District 9 – Nimba County: A Better Life
For many children in District 9, education remains the only true ladder out of poverty — yet that ladder is broken for too many. Students often leave primary school without strong reading or math skills, which leaves them struggling in later grades.
Opportunities for secondary education and college preparation are limited and unaffordable for most families. At the same time, youth who are not academically inclined have almost no access to vocational or technical training, leaving them without employable skills. Without intervention, thousands of young people risk being locked out of opportunity.
We are committed to building an education system in District 9 that gives every child and young person a pathway to success — whether through academics, vocational skills, or leadership development. Our approach focuses on:
Strengthening literacy and numeracy in early grades by supporting teachers, classrooms, and learning resources.
Providing scholarships, tutoring, and mentorship to help high-performing students access higher education opportunities
Creating hands-on training programs in trades, agriculture, and ICT to prepare youth for productive careers.
Signed an MOU with Teach for Liberia, who provided teacher training for more than 100 teachers in improved literacy and numeracy methods.
Initiated partnerships with other organizations focused on foundational learning and early-grade support.
Supported over 100 students at Nimba University and 200+ students at other institutions through scholarships and mentorship.
Sponsor scholarships, provide textbooks and classroom resources, or underwrite teacher training initiatives.
